Call for Research: Advancing AI Ethics Principles, and Practices.

We are excited to announce a collaborative research initiative: Advancing AI Ethics Principles, Practices, and Pathways. This effort aims to bring together a diverse and interdisciplinary community of researchers, practitioners, and scholars to produce a series of high-impact papers on ethical and fair AI for submission to leading conferences and journals.

The initiative invites participants to explore the theoretical foundations, practical methodologies, and applied dimensions of AI ethics and fairness. Selected contributors will form research groups, collaborate across domains, and co-author impactful papers that move the field forward.

Scope and Themes

We welcome original contributions and collaborative explorations across the following core themes:

AI Ethics

• Ethical principles in AI system design and deployment
• Value alignment and moral reasoning in autonomous systems
• Human-centered and participatory design approaches
• Impact auditing and ethical risk assessment
• Cross-cultural and global perspectives on AI ethics
• Responsible use of large language models and generative AI
• Critical reflections on AI governance, hype, and power structures

Fairness in AI

• Detection and mitigation of algorithmic bias and discrimination
• Fairness-aware ML and LLM methodologies
• Formal definitions and fairness trade-offs (e.g., group vs. individual)
• Evaluation frameworks, benchmarking, and auditing tools
• Disparity analysis in decision-making systems (e.g., hiring, lending, healthcare)
• Datasets and synthetic data for fairness research
• Intersectionality and fairness for marginalized groups

Who Should Apply?

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about responsible AI and bring diverse academic or industry perspectives. Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

• A commitment to ethical and inclusive AI research
• Experience in AI/ML, human-computer interaction, social sciences, law, philosophy, or related disciplines
• Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and co-authorship
• A track record of publishing or contributing to research in AI, ethics, fairness, or adjacent domains
