ICAIRE release a study in collaboration with KAPSARC titled "AI and Energy: The Future of Data Centers in Saudi Arabia." This research examines how the rise of artificial intelligence is transforming the global economy and making AI-ready data centers essential drivers of change.

Key Findings from the Publication:

• Infrastructure Shift: AI-focused facilities require advanced chips, dense servers, and liquid cooling to support high-performance computing, unlike traditional IT centers.
• Capacity Expansion: Global data center capacity is projected to double from over 111,900 MW in 2024 to 224,000 MW by 2030.
• Surging Electricity Demand: Global electricity use by data centers is expected to rise from 854 TWh in 2024 to nearly 1,900 TWh by 2030.
• AI Power Impact: AI workloads currently account for 5%–15% of data center power use and are forecast to reach 35%–50% by the end of the decade.

The study highlights a tightening link between the energy and digital sectors as these facilities become primary drivers of economic innovation.
