Oman's National AI Program and Ethical Governance

A session on the Sultanate of Oman's national AI programme and ethical governance. The 'Oman AI & Digital Future Program (2024-2026)' includes establishing legislative and regulatory frameworks for the safe and ethical use of AI, protecting data privacy, and fostering trust in advanced digital technologies. Oman has also launched an initiative to expand a comprehensive, rights-based Ethical AI Governance framework, described as a first global standard document for the ethical implementation, development and use of AI based on human rights, organised by the Ministry of Education through the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, in cooperation with the UNESCO Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen in Doha and in partnership with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
