Dr. Abdulrahman Habib, President of the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), discussed in an interview with Al Sharq business Channel Saudi Arabia’s growing role in establishing itself as a global hub for AI ethics.
Dr. Habib explained that the Center, based in Riyadh and operating under the auspices of UNESCO, is dedicated to promoting responsible AI practices and organizing international workshops that bring together researchers and experts from around the world to address ethical challenges in emerging technologies.
He highlighted that the Center’s activities are built upon four key pillars:
Supporting research and development,
Promoting awareness of artificial intelligence,
Building capacities and developing policies,
Strengthening international cooperation in responsible AI.
Dr. Habib also noted that ICAIRE runs a global program aimed at training 25,000 women worldwide in artificial intelligence, with over 6,000 participants from more than 60 countries trained so far, reflecting the Center’s commitment to empowering women and contributing to a more inclusive and responsible digital future.
