The workshop was convened by UNESCO, ICAIRE and IRCAI, the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence in Slovenia. It opened the 4th UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Riyadh and formed the Forum’s academic track.

Twenty-seven research abstracts were presented by some twenty-five researchers, whose work was selected from Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, Qatar, Germany, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Thailand, Sudan, Slovenia and the United Kingdom, among other countries.

Accepted contributions are published as extended abstracts in the Forum proceedings. Selected work continues through ICAIRE’s research programme, and was shown at the Center’s pavilion on 14 September.

The workshop is part of ICAIRE’s work to deepen specialised research in AI ethics, widen international scientific partnerships, and turn research into initiatives and practice that support the responsible use of advanced technologies.
